Wayanad is home to the earthen Banasura Sagar Dam, which is located 21 kilometres from Mananthavady, 22 km from Kalpetta, and 46 km from Sulthan Bathery. The boating area, which provides speed boating access in the stunning dam backwaters, is about a km's walk from the dam entrance. It was constructed with enormous, intricately carved granite pillars. The interior of the temple has a few lovely carvings, but the exterior is plain.

Wildlife Sanctuary

Muthanga Wildlife Sanctuary, sometimes called Wayanad Wildlife Sanctuary, is an elephant reserve sanctuary in Wayanad, located 14 kilometres from Sulthan Bathery and 39 km from Kalpetta. It's one of the best sites to visit in Wayanad and one of the best spots to see wildlife in Kerala. A jeep safari is one of the must-do activities during the Wayanad tour, and it is the only way to enter the sanctuary. A one and a half hour jeep safari into the sanctuary is scheduled by the forest department, departing at the Muthanga entrance. The park allows only a restricted number of authorised jeeps to enter, and safaris are scheduled for both morning and evening.
